Summary: The Doctor and Rose take some time together
“I am become death"

MIRROR, MIRROR
It took two hours. Two hours from the time they stood on that beach holding hands, watching the TARDIS fade, until the Torchwood helicopter arrived. Jackie had retreated up the hill to the restaurant on top to wait, leaving Rose and the Doctor, the Not Doctor, alone.
It was him, she knew, or them. He didn’t look at her with the cheeky grin that her Doctor had flashed at the drop of a hat. No, this one had Her Doctor's, but the expression belonged to her first Doctor. He was sitting alone now, staring out at the ocean, the wind mussing his hair and reddening his skin.
He was so wrapped up in thought that he almost hadn’t noticed her walking up. She sat down next to him, close, but not too close. ”Whatcha thinkin’?” she asked leaning forward to look at his face. It was as unreadable as stone.
“I remember running towards you, being shot, being carried to the TARDIS, but there everything seems to change. Face in the mirror is still the same, but it’s like waking up, and not quite feeling like yourself.”
He hesitated, and Rose gave him an encouraging look. There had been an “I love you,” and a kiss and now there was awkwardness. It was almost like an arranged marriage, being left here like this. He wanted to be here, but it was the other body that had pined away for her. He was old and new at the same time. He sighed, “I just need to get my bearings.”
“Y’ok?” she asked softly. Watching him she felt a knot beginning to grow in the pit of her stomach. He’d as much as asked her to marry him, declared his love, kissed back, and withdrawn into his shell. She didn’t know if, like her first Doctor, she should wait for him to peek out again, or coax him like her second.
He turned his head to look at her, his gaze intense, as if she were a puzzle or a question to find an answer to. She felt comforted in a strange way. This part was her first Doctor. “Ok, I guess you’re not going to talk, so I will.” He merely turned his head and looked back out over the ocean.
“I made a choice, a long time ago, never to leave you. I did my best to find my way back to you, because I knew you wouldn’t let yourself break the rules. I even wondered if you’d be angry with me for succeeding, if I did. All I knew was that I loved you, and I was sure that you would have finished that sentence by telling me you loved me too. It was what kept me alive and hoping and going on. The chance to hear you say those three little words.”
She shifted, pulling her arms closer around her against the chill which he didn’t seem to notice. “Thing is, I saw you regenerate once. I had to get used to you being the same man with a different face. I’ve worked through this one with you before. Only this time it’s same man, same face, slightly different. One less heart, mortality, a bit more attitude if the rumors are true, and wounded again.
“But, I made my choice. When you whispered in my ear, I knew he was right. You need me more than he does, or did. I know because he could never have allowed himself to be vulnerable enough to say what you did. In that moment I knew that you had the heart and soul that he would never acknowledge existed. He never truly let me in, and you did without giving it a thought.”
A gust of wind buffeted them. Rose pushed the hair out of her face and tried the burrow further into her coat. The Doctor put an arm around her and pulled her closer. He felt warmer than his old self, but also seemed to be shivering a bit. Rose slid one arm around his waist and one across his stomach and locked her fingers together. He kissed the top of her head and sighed.
“I’m sorry. It’s been a long, strange day and the adrenalin is starting to wear off. I think it’s beginning to sink in that I wiped a whole species out of existence and what that means. Davros called me The Destroyer of Worlds. He told me that I turned my companions into weapons. He was right. All of it."
“When you’re in the thick of it, there is something almost epic about being the one to fulfill the prophecy. Stuff of legends. I was angry. Davros intended to wipe out the whole of creation, every living thing. He nearly killed Donna and the TARDIS, but instead it created me. I sprang full grown, into existence, an avenging angel. The first thing I did was rescue Donna and the TARDIS. Did it while still naked as a babe,” a smile ghosted over his face and then quickly faded. “Then I did what I always do, I saved the universe, but at what cost? I am become death and I don’t know how to atone for that.”
Rose hugged him tighter. “We’ll figure it out together. You and me. We have the rest of our lives.” She lifted her eyes to look at him. “Unless you didn’t mean that part,” she continued hesitantly.
“Yes, oh yes I meant it” he replied wrapping both his arms around her. They now were holding onto each other for dear life. “The thing is, I’m still angry. Part of me knows that I did what needed to be done and I resent anyone who criticizes me for it. I feel guilty enough on my own. But I’ve run out of patience. I’m tired of trying to reason with beings that are so bloody thick. I just want to solve the problem and move on. No diplomacy, just action. The worst part is that underneath it all, I just want to make someone or something else hurt as bad as I do. I am too dangerous to leave on my own. I’d end up killing all the spiders again,” he said ruefully.
“Sorry?”
“The first time I met Donna there was this giant spider that was using the earth as one big nest, intending to feed her young on the population when they hatched. I drained the Thames to stop them all, but I kept screaming and pouring water in until Donna got through to me and stopped me. It’s the reason she wouldn’t come with me the first time. I scared her. She did say that I needed someone to stop me sometimes.”
“Oh my god. The parallel universe where you died. You drowned because she wasn’t there to get you out. It happened to fast for you to regenerate.”
“I suspect that it wasn’t too fast. I suspect that I’d just given up in the face of the futility of it all. There was no hand to hold.”
“Well, you’ve got me back and I’m not letting go.”
“Haven’t you been listening? I’m a murderer. I’ve committed the worst of war crimes, the greatest of sins. I killed an entire race of beings. I do not deserve you.” Tears were starting to run down his wind scrubbed face.
“Stop it right there. You left you here for a reason. That reason was me. You trusted me with yourself and I won’t let you down so don’t even start thinking about slipping off without me. Firstly, you don’t have a TARDIS, and secondly, I happen to work for Torchwood and I can track you down. You’re stuck with me Moon Boy.”
“Martian Boy.”
“What?”
“Donna called me Martian Boy.”
“Oh.”
The sound of chopper blades filled the air. Still clinging to him, Rose turned to see Jackie emerging from the restaurant with what appeared to be several take away cups of tea and the Torchwood helicopter beginning to come down on a bare speck of beach. “Our ride’s here,” she said, disentangling herself. She stood and brushed the sand from her clothes and the Doctor did the same.
He took her hand and she squeezed it, giving him a reassuring smile. “There is something we need to work out pretty quickly, though” Rose said. The Doctor quirked and eyebrow at her. “We’ve got to do something about those pronouns. I sound like an idiot when I talk about all of your you’s.” They both burst out laughing and stepped forward into their new life.

Story: Dancing Lessons
Author: Melinda Kitty
melindakitty
Characters: Ninth Doctor, Captain Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler;
Rated: oh, so Adult for slash, bisexuality, mature content, language, violence, and lots and lots of sex (multiple pairings/groupings)
Disclaimer: I don't own 'em, 'cause if I did there would have been no parting of the ways, Rose would be happy and walking funny, and a love of tech isn't the only thing Nine and Jack would be sharing.
Spoilers: AU. If you haven't seen the first three series of Doctor Who, you may be spoilered. I like to mess with canon.
Summary: By popular request: OT3 Nine/Jack/Rose. One of Jack's exes is out for a bit of revenge. Can the Doctor and Rose figure a way to rescue him before he has to pay the piper? Watch for fancy footwork, a bit of intrigue, occasional plot, and a large excuse for love and smut.
As a reminder, Melinda is on vacation this week and next, and Faithful will be on hiatus as a result. Updates of Lady in the Fireplace and Dancing Lessons will continue as planned, though. --ophymirage
Chapter 17: Quickstep
Story: The Lady in the Fireplace
Author: Melinda Kitty
melindakitty
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Reinette, King of France and (eventually) Ninth Doctor
Rated: oh, so Adult for slash, bisexuality, mature content, language, abuse of REALLY good champagne, and lots and lots of sex (multiple pairings/groupings)
Disclaimer: I don't own 'em, 'cause if I did, Rose would be more BadWolf and less Angst, Ten would post a sign on the door sayin' "If the TARDIS is a rockin', don't come a knockin'", and half of their adventures through time and space would consist of finding new and unusual places to have a juicy shag.
Spoilers: AU, DURING "The Girl in the Fireplace". If you haven't seen the first three series of Doctor Who, you WILL be spoilered. I like to mess with canon. And you have my word that -- despite how this starts -- I'm a passionate Rose/Ten shipper.
Summary: OTP Rose/Ten with a lot of interesting liaisons along the way. So what exactly DID Ten do in Versailles? This French farce will have love, drama, sex, and eventually as close to a happy ending as I can manage. Be forewarned, though, I may take you places that would make RTD's head explode.

I have a friend named C. C is awesome. She's one of those larger-than-life people, and I kind of wonder how I came to be friends with her. She is tall and blonde and gorgeous and dresses entirely in designer clothing, and she leads the most unbelievable life. An example for all of you, below:

Hi, just sharing a wallpaper I made for my desktop after watching Journey's End. So very obviously, SPOILER for Journey's End. If ya haven't seen it, don't look :). It's in two sizes, 1440x900 (my display) or 1280x800. If there is any interest I can cut it to other displays (it's a flippin' huge .psd).
I did say I wasn't going to do this. But I have no willpower. And it's been ages since I've done a meme. Lovingly stolen from
madeira. Behold what a slag I am!
1. Bold the names of guys you'd definitely shag.
2. Italicize the names of guys you might shag after a little persuasion.
3. Leave the guys who don't do anything for you alone.
4. Put a question mark after the guys you've never heard of.
5. Strike the guys you wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
6. ADD FOUR OF YOUR OWN AT THE END. NOTE THAT THESE ARE THE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, NOT THE ACTORS THEMSELVES...(That's a whole other survey!)
( It's the fictional characters-meme! )

Title: Not Dreams But Memories.
Spoilers: A post-ep to Journey's End.
Genre: Romance. I wouldn't call this fluffy, but rather very, very romantic.
Characters and Pairings: The Tenth Doctor, Rose; Rose/Ten.
Rating: PG.13.
Author's Note: Written solely to make myself and (hopefully) others smile. Also? Coming up with a non-spoilery summary to this fic was harder than trying to understand my old Chinese classes. I failed Chinese, by the by.
Summary: He does not dream of a life with her. He remembers a life with her.
His brain felt as if it had been exposed to the whirl and twirl of a tornado; his thoughts felt like sheets of paper hastily stuffed into a filing cabinet with no appreciation of order nor alphabet.

First off...
Happy Belated Birthday to
solarflar3. I hope you had a wonderful day!
Secondly...
Watched DW yesterday....I'm still processing it all. I'm pretty sure I liked it a lot...there were parts I completely loved and parts that absolutely broke my heart. I think I've cried more since yesterday than I have in the last year. I have things I want to say about the episode, but I'm not ready to give a review just yet. So, I'm off to read more fanfic and do some more crying. God, this show's going to be the death of me.

I think I've cried more since yesterday than I have in the last year. I have things I want to say about the episode, but I'm not ready to give a review just yet. So, I'm off to read more fanfic and do some more crying. God, this show's going to be the death of me.

I understand that I'm one of about a dozen people who actually liked the finale, and I figure this is fair turnabout for that time I was filled with perfectly justafiable and in no way OTT rage over "Last of the Time Lords".
However.
( This bit is spoilery! )
And now, having pissed off half the people on my flist, I'm going to have a cup of tea and eat a toasted baked bean sandwich. SO THERE.
